One enters a slightly darkened room, with natural and changing colored lights, to find a three dimensional maze formed by a variety of ascending suits and kimonos, floating upwards toward the sky (a la Magritte’s floating men in suits and hats).  Upon closer examination, the viewer will notice that the clothes are made of paper, and beautifully decorated in the fanciful styles.  In China, these papers and accessories are appropriate attire for the recently deceased, on their way to their…

DATE TBA-Winter 2018-2019 A special Tricentennial exhibition at the Elvira Cisneros Senior Center to dedicate the 60-foot mural created for their dining hall with lead muralist Elizabeth Rodriguez and more than thirty Cisneros seniors, mostly Latinas. This massive mural project, funded in part by TCA, took more than a year to complete. The mural, planned to coincide with the Tricentennial, focuses on the history of the Southside from early indigenous habitation to the present.

An exhibition by still-active 91-year old Los Angeles artist Jean Edelstein of drawings done in Chinese accordion books while attending concerts or visiting public gardens. Coincides with Poetry Month SA. Organized by guest curator David S. Rubin; in collaboration with Musical Bridges around the World (MBAW).  BHA will exhibit the nature series. A multidimensional artistic collaboration with prints on paper, sculpture and a video documenting the creative process of the art pieces. Teel Sale is the poet whose work inspired this collaboration. Nancy Klapp will exhibit a series of three dimensional pieces and Gloria Sanchez Hart’s participation will consist of a site installation of monoprints on paper. William E. Mackie will create a documentary film of the artistic processes.
